Managing social care services in restricted areas

Deploying a social care information system in French Guiana involves meeting unique challenges: geographical remoteness, staff mobility, diversity of the populations served, and continuity of care across a vast and sometimes isolated territory.

In Cayenne, APAJH de Guyane chose Imago, Evolucare’s social care solution, to provide long-term support to its teams and structure its practices across the entire territory.

Deployed in SaaS mode, the Imago solution enables APAJH Guyane to provide secure and continuous access to information, regardless of where professionals are working, even in the most remote areas of French Guiana.

A complex territory, heightened needs

French Guiana covers more than 83,000 km² and includes municipalities that are only accessible by plane or canoe. In this context, APAJH French Guiana supports nearly 1,200 people with disabilities thanks to the commitment of more than 230 professionals spread across the entire territory.

This is a valuable asset, but also a significant constraint that forces us to rethink our organisational methods.

Why did APAJH French Guiana choose Imago?

To address these challenges, APAJH Guyane turned to Imago, Evolucare’s software solution designed to adapt to the needs of professionals and multi-site organisations in the social care sector.

The portability of the solution and the ability to work on the move, even in poor connectivity conditions, were decisive factors. As some of the services are outpatient-based, professionals can go on assignment for several days without returning to the site, while still having access to essential information.

“We chose Imago because it was the tool that best suited our needs and expectations, both for medical and paramedical staff and for educational teams,” emphasises Gildas Le Guern.

A gradual and structured rollout, with a local partner

The rollout of Imago in French Guiana was based on a gradual methodology designed to support change and ensure that teams embraced the new system. It also relied on the involvement of a local partner, GF Consulting, which worked alongside APAJH and Evolucare from the outset of the project.

  • Lory Budoc
In French Guiana, proximity is essential. Being present on the ground allows us to support teams as closely as possible to their practices and respond quickly to local constraints. The fact that Imago is a web-based solution, deployed in SaaS mode, allows professionals to work both from the office and on the move, even in areas where connectivity is limited.

This gradual support was crucial in securing the teams’ buy-in and embedding Imago into our daily organisation for the long term.

The teams were trained step by step: creating files for the people being supported, structuring schedules and activities, then gradually rolling out personalised projects.

Tangible benefits for teams and those receiving support

In practice, Imago quickly delivers operational benefits. Educational, care and administrative teams now have a shared vision of support. On the administrative side, centralising data also makes day-to-day tasks easier.
