CIMD in Cameroon: a collaboration born of trust and proximity
In Douala, Cameroon, the Centre d’Imagerie Médicale (CIMD) is a benchmark. Founded over 25 years ago by Dr Jean-Paul Amana, radiologist and former head of department at Douala General Hospital, the centre has established itself as a key player in diagnostic imaging in the region.
Keen to combine performance, ergonomics and remote collaboration, Dr Amana chose Evolucare Imaging to modernise his work tools and optimise patient follow-up.
The project came to fruition thanks to the synergy between Evolucare and its local partner, Glem Solutions Cameroon, led by Sylvie Tagni-Zukam. Together, they were able to adapt the tools and installation methods to the needs on the ground, taking into account the infrastructure and connectivity constraints specific to the region.
Local support, the key to success
For several years, Evolucare has relied on a network of strong regional partners to deploy its solutions in French-speaking African countries.
Glem Solutions Cameroon plays a strategic role in this dynamic, ensuring proximity to customers, team training and daily maintenance of installations.
This proximity enabled smooth and rapid installation of the system, supported by Evolucare’s technical teams who came on site, under the supervision of Hadi Zarzour, Group Area Manager for Africa and the Middle East.
Controlled deployment and local skills development
The installation of Evolucare Imaging at the CIMD was carried out in close collaboration with local engineers.
The team took a collaborative approach, combining on-site intervention with remote assistance. This method ensured rapid adoption of the software by the centre’s users and full mastery of its key features.
Telemedicine at the heart of practice
The remote working feature proved to be crucial for the CIMD, especially during the pandemic.
Thanks to Evolucare Imaging, Dr Amana and her colleagues were able to continue working while reducing the risks associated with physical contact.
« During Covid, we were able to continue working without interrupting our examinations. The software offered us real flexibility, and our patient flow accelerated.»
— Dr Jean-Paul Amana
The tool also facilitates the comparison of previous examinations, which is essential for monitoring chronic or oncological conditions, and enables secure storage of medical data.
Towards an interconnected imaging network
Building on this experience, the CIMD now plans to connect other medical establishments to its Evolucare Imaging platform.
This expansion will promote the pooling of resources, particularly in areas where there are few radiologists.
« Some centres wish to connect with us to interpret their examinations remotely. This would compensate for the lack of on-site radiologists and maintain the quality of diagnosis, even in remote areas. »
— Dr Jean-Paul Amana
This project perfectly illustrates the vision promoted by Evolucare through its Pact4all: inclusive, supportive digital healthcare that is accessible to all, regardless of borders.
A natural extension of Pact4all
By supporting organisations such as CIMD, Evolucare demonstrates its ability to adapt its solutions to local realities, while contributing to skills development and quality of care in partner countries.
« Every deployment in Africa is a human and technological adventure. We learn together, and we grow together. That is the spirit of Pact4all. »
— Hadi Zarzour
Thanks to the commitment of local teams, regional partners and its business experts, Evolucare is strengthening its presence on the African continent while consolidating a responsible and collaborative digital health model.
